A few days ago I was asked to give a talk on watermelon crawl shots. This is one of the hottest topics out there in social media. Why you ask? Because watermelon is such a great summertime snack! In fact, I like to take summer over and chill out on a boat, grill up some steaks, and have a good time with friends and family.
Now don’t get me wrong, watermelon is always tasty too. I enjoy eating it whenever I get the chance. But let’s face it, there are better things in life. So what do you do when your watermelon is not ripe enough to be a great juice drinker? You can always try to make the watermelon crawl.
Here’s what you do. First, wash the watermelon completely dry. Second, cut off the top of the watermelon and scoop out the seeds and any pulp. Place everything in a glass bowl and let sit for at least one hour.
Here’s what you do next. Place a small seedless watermelon in the center of a plate and drizzle it with a little bit of olive oil and country music. Then add three sliced strawberries over the middle of the watermelon and place it on the plate with the seared strawberry atop it. After that, add a small bottle of tequila and shake thoroughly.
Here’s what happens next. Gently mix in one tablespoon of the ordinary man recipe and 2 ounces of tequila. Shake it up and down until the flavors meld together. If you don’t like the taste of country music, try something else like rocky road or lightning fast food. Just make sure it has a reasonable amount of alcohol in it before drinking.
That’s it! Your watermelon crawl is about to become an event. Make sure you invite all your friends because this is the best time to party! Also, don’t forget to get a camera because you’re going to have some great pictures to send home to your family. Just remember to touch right along with your friends so you’ll all be the star of your own video.
To complete the package, all you need is about twenty-five dollars and a good tall glass. Bring your watermelon, a bottle of sweet red wine made from grapes, a hand full of people and a camera and get ready to have a wonderful time in a little town called Harrogate. You can even turn it into a small town celebration by making your own taster’s bar and serving different types of grapes to each guest. Let’s say it’s Summer, you could serve tart cherries, strawberries, and blueberries, and maybe lemonade too!
At the end of the night, just take a few steps left. Turn right into the little town of Harrogate and look for the giant watermelon. Touch the giant watermelon and tell everyone your fun experience. Be sure to give them your best shot and of course, tell them how much you paid for the giant watermelon. They’ll be happy to see you and they might even chip in to pay you for your sweet taste that day. Be sure to give everyone a camera so they can remember your night.
Before you know it, you will have a local story written all over the giant watermelon and if you are thirsty enough to eat it, you will have several drinks made from it before the day is over. If you have an extra three hours in the day, you might want to try turning this into a business. How about turning this into a trivia game? Instead of telling a story about the giant watermelon, tell people questions about the surrounding area. You could have people come to your place of business and you can give them a cup of watermelon juice for their troubles.
